Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a hard wearing cookware material with an attractive mirror polished finish. Although not a good conductor of heat, good quality stainless steel pans usually have an aluminium base, either sandwiched or fully encapsulated between a thin layer of stainless steel. Copper is another metal with good heat conducting properties that can be used in the base of stainless steel cookware.

Aluminium and copper are not as hard wearing as stainless steel, so the benefits of each material are utilised in the construction of quality stainless steel cookware. Pans with thinner bases often have 'heat spots', and this uneven heat can cause food to stick to cookware. The majority of these pans are constructed from quality 18/10 stainless steel and are suitable for all heat sources, including induction hobs.
