Cookware Buyer's Guide

This guide offers a little help with choosing the best cookware for you. We have a Cookware Comparison Chart that gives a summary of features from our main cookware ranges and brands. Above this guide you can find a list of the Cookware Categories available from our shop. We also have a separate Oven and Bakeware page that has more information on the different types of baking equipment and ovenware available from Pots and Pans.

For many people cooking is an enjoyable experience and so try to make choosing your cookware interesting. Take your time and consider all the various options before choosing which cookware suits you. There is no easy answer to 'right and wrong' types, as different styles of cookware have different strengths and weaknesses. If you find that cooking is a chore, it's just as important to choose the correct type to suit your needs. Consider if you want to put your cookware in the dishwasher, which type of hob/cooker you use and if you prefer a modern hi-tech look or traditional design. Most importantly don't hesitate in mixing types of cookware if you want to buy individual pans from different ranges - there is nothing wrong in having an all steel pan for making soup, a non-stick pan for a 'fry-up', a cast iron ribbed grill pan for a steak and a hard anodised pan to make a sauce. The key point is there are no hard and fast rules, just choose the cookware you'll enjoy using and that suits your needs.

Customers with induction cookers should be aware that the type of pans they use is more important than with other heat sources - read more about induction cooking to see why it is important you buy the right cookware for your hob type.

If you know what cookware you want to buy, you can shop by the various cookware categories listed above.
