The name is pronounced 'KEE-OH-SAIR-RA' after Kyoto Ceramics, the original name of the company. Kyocera knives are made of the technical material zirconia, which has revolutionary characteristics in comparison to conventional steel knives. These knives are harder than any other cutting tools, except diamond, yet are lighter than steel. Kyocera also stay sharp for considerably longer than other knives. The blades are produced by a process known as Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP), which uses extremes of temperature and pressure to create a very dense ceramic material. | |
